Building games, learning together.

GRaiT GAMES is a father-and-son workshop where we design, code, and publish mobile and browser-based games, using Claude.ai, and share everything we learn along the way.

Our mission is simple: make learning to code feel like play, and prove that anyone, at any age, can build something worth playing.

// Our Story //

How it all started

One of us started coding lessons, about 2 years before the launch of this website, at the ripe old age of 10. He learned Java and C# and built minigames from scratch.

The other was named an AI champion at work and was provided extensive training on a variety of AI models. By far, the most interesting was Claude.

During an introduction to Claude Artifacts, it became clear that this program's coding abilities could allow anyone to build games, websites, and much more in minutes. It took just two prompts to build a playable version of Quordle, wired straight into the official Wordle wordlist. That was all it took: our first game was born, and the idea for this website began to grow.

  1. The Big Question

    How do you convince a kid who "hates" AI that it's a useful tool that will help him enhance and improve his coding abilities? Get him to actually try using it and build a game, which ultimately became our first published game: Space Dogfight.

  2. Learning the Building Blocks

    Having learned JavaScript, and a little C#, it wasn't a big jump to start learning HTML and CSS. When we got stuck, we simply asked Claude for help.

  3. Building our Games

    We have brainstorming sessions to discuss ideas for games before turning to Claude.ai to build the first draft. Most games take at least 20 prompts or revisions before we are happy with the final product.

  4. Sharing them with the World

    GRaiT GAMES is the home for everything we create, and hopefully, it will soon be a home for your games too! Right now, you can play Father-made and Son-made games, but our dream is to open this up to families worldwide as a shared location for family-made games.

Built with a little help from AI

We believe in being open about how we build. We use a paid Claude.ai account, primarily the Artifacts service, as our development environment and tutor all in one. Here's exactly what that looks like:

A Coding Tutor

Claude Chat helps explain new concepts, suggests approaches, and answers the endless "how does this work?" questions. It helps us turn confusion into understanding faster.

A Second Pair of Eyes

AI makes a lot of mistakes when coding, often because we have given it unclear instructions, giving us ample learning opportunity with each round of testing.

An Idea Generator

From game mechanics to art direction, AI helps us brainstorm and explore, but we ensure that the creative decisions are always made by us.

Humans Stay in Charge

AI assists; we learn, decide, and build. Every game ships because we understood it, tested it, improved it through multiple versions, and were proud enough to press "publish".
